The art of the Stroller.

So after weeks of stealing other toddler's strollers at the playgrounds we decided to buy Felix his very own mini-stroller. And doesn't he just love it!!!

On recommendation from another mum, I decided to keep it for outside use as Felix already has his Wheely Bug and a very annoying pooh-bear truck at home.

At first he just pushed the stroller around the park but now he is getting far more advanced ... going up and down 'm
ini curbs', different terrains mud, grassy knowls etc and most recently trying to push the stroller into the bushes. But he gets such a determined & serious look on his face when he is 'driving'. It's very cute.

Oh and I love it even more because it helps wear him out.

Leonardo.

Mummy and Felix went to the park yesterday and on the way stopped into the toy shop to buy a bucket and spade.

On the way to the cashier we noticed a cute little lion looking up at us. Felix just adores lions and as he was such a cutie we decided to buy him and take him to the park with us.

His name is Leonardo. I have a sneaking suspicion that Felix and Leonardo are to become
the best of friends.

Bathtime.

Okay so why is it they become so yummy, sweet smelling and ready to be cuddled and eaten all up after a bath. Or is it just me?

As you can see, Felix has already has his dinner in this shot - thus the rather full tummy.

Next stops ... dry hair, get dressed in jarmies, read 'Moo Baa La La La' and into bed with Leonardo and Mousey.

Night night little man!!

Word of the week - Merci.

So it seems that the new word of the week is 'merci'. I have to say I am pretty happy about that as Daddy and I have been using please and thankyou to no avail for 18 months so it is nice to hear that our efforts are paying off.

Funnily enough Felix prefers the french version but I guess it is no surprise as it is much easier to get your mouth around. Also it is kinda handy as when we are out and about...ie at parks...it is better that he can say it to the other kids in french rather than english.

Oh yeah ... it actually sounds more like 'Ercy'. But hey it is early days.

And yes in case you can't tell The World Cup is on at the moment. Take a guess which team Felix supports!!!!

The Pitter-Patter of little feet.

How many times have you heard the expression 'The pitter-patter of little feet'.

I really 'get' that phrase now. Yes, before it sounded nice but now I have that little sound pitter-pattering around the apartment all day and I just didn't realise just how cute it really is. Especially now the warmer weather is here, which results in bare feet on the bamboo floor boards.

It's particularly prevalent in the morning when the apartment is blissfully quiet and usually when I am having a cheeky 'lie in' and suddenly I hear the door opening and pitter-pattering towards the bed and then hear 'mama, mama'. So sweet.

Funny how a phrase can be brought to life (and have such a different meaning) after the arrival of a litttle person into a household.

Bilangue.

Felix goes to the Halte Garderie two mornings a week (the French version of daycare). Those mornings are heavenly for me as I finally have a chance to do something 'pusher-free'. And Felix loves it too (although it did take some time to get used to it and we nearly had to stop it altogether).

However I have been worried recently how he was handling the french given that we only speak english at home. Was he struggling and feeling isolated and alone? Two mornings of hearing french for three hours is not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

So when I picked him up at noon on Thursday I asked the Directrice how she thought Felix's comprehension was and to my surprise (and relief) she said that Felix had no problem understanding. In fact he was perfectly bilingual. He always gave the impression of understanding exactly what they were saying to him and he usually responds to their requests...sit down, be gentle, come here etc.

I felt an enormous amount of relief.

Strangely enough today I have noticed that he is actually already saying some words in french 'assis' (sit down), 'merci' (thankyou), 'dodo' (sleep) and I am sure there are a few more that I have yet to discover.

I am so proud of our little bilingual man.

The Introduction.

So to those of you that don't already know him, I wanted to introduce you to the Little Man himself ... FELIX.

He arrived in to the world at 4.23pm in Paris on December 3rd 2004 at the Franco Britanique hospital in Levallois-Perret, Paris.

As you can see it was a crystal-clear chilly winter day, jazz was playing on the radio, the room lights were dim
med and before we knew it he had popped out into the world in three easy pushes (Mummy nearly missed it).

From Day 1 Felix was a pretty cruisy baby - pretty Zen actually and still is to this day. He was also incredibly alert when he was born and incredibly eager to explore his new world.

He didn't really cry terribly much and if he did it was always solvable ... wet nappy or hu
nger. No major illnesses and pretty much followed the usual developmental phases by the book.

He was never an overly clingy baby, hated being swaddled and preferred sitting over a shoulder rather than being craddled like a little baby. Always terribly independent. Although of course he had to indulge his parents just a little.

The first relative he met was his maternal Grandmother who came to Paris when Felix was only 2 weeks old. Felix had his first conversation with her whilst Mummy and Daddy looked on proudly.

Bon Papa joined Felix for his first Christmas and needless to say Felix was quite taken by his paternal grandfather and of course it was more than recriprocated. A striking resemblance was noted on the paternal side and it continues to this day.

There was then a big lag in meeting the rest of the relatives until Felix travelled to Australia when he was 5 months old. He was a star on the flight - sl
ept the whole way. Must have been preparation for meeting everyone in Sydney, Bungendore, Mooloolah Valley and Bris-Vegas. And boy was he spoilt.

He started commando crawling at 9 months just after summer having spent a month with his Nanny and Pappie who were visiting (from Mooloolah Valley). And at 13 months he started walking and getting into all kinds of trouble - just in time for his 2nd trip to Australia.

Fast forward a few months and imagine a strapping young toddler with beautiful blonde hair, brown eyes, and the most divine skin. Absolutely dotting parents (who of course aren't biaised at all) and I guess there you have it in a nutshell - our little man Felix.

Hope you enjoy being Chez Felix and enjoy reading and sharing in his magical moments!
