The Indian Summer.

So it seems that we are being struck with an Indian summer in Paris this year. Although I have to say Felix doesn't seem to mind as that gives him a chance to play in our little Zen garden and enjoy the warmth.

This morning he insisted that Mummy take out his tricycle, his wheely bug and disney truck for him to play on. He is quite certain about what he wants these days and is fast becoming the 'patron' of the house - THE BOSS!!

And then one by one more toys came out ... polar bears ...

... teething fish (which Felix suggests Lyla's Mummy & Daddy find as it really helped with Felix's teething - Sassy is the brand & it is available in Oz) ...

Then it was back to the tricycle, Mummy had the giggles when Felix decided to go cross-country through the ivy.

Whoops, turn around Felix!

But then he zipped back in reverse just in time ... a real speed demon.

Playgroup at Rodin.

Yesterday Felix and Mummy went to our weekly toddler playgroup in the garden of the Rodin Museum, to celebrate Amelia's 2nd birthday party - a fellow 'frogssie' (french-aussie).

The sun was shinning and the little-uns were having a great time playing in the sand with the buckets and balloons (yes that is the twins again with their cousin Raffi).

The older girls (2+) were leading the way, running all over the place and trying to rustle up those perfectly groomed hedges (the birthday girl Amelia, is in the pink pants).

It was a great way to pass a summer afternoon.

Playdate with the twins.

This morning Mummy & Felix invited the twins, Max and Freja and their Mummy Rikki to come over to play at our house. Luckily the sun decide
d to make another appearance so we spent the morning outside surrounded by the toys, smoothies and sunshine.

It was a nice relaxing morning although Felix wasn't overly keen on sharing his favourite toys ... even with the twins (who happen to share Felix's Daddy's birthday on the 31st December).

The best fun was when the girls came inside with Felix and they all had great fun jumping on the lounge.

Although after all the jumping it was time for Felix to have a quick rest whilst Freja played with his car ...

And then it was time to give the girls big kisses and cuddles goodbye. There certainly were a lot of very looooong smooches and cuddles taking place.

Felix seemed very chuffed with himself.

La Rentrée.

It is the official 'Rentrée' this week when all the french are back at work after the summer holidays and all the kids go back to school. (It also usually signals the colder weather that is looming imminently close).

For Felix it was his return to the local garderie (a nusery for mummies who don't work) after 6 weeks of holidays. Everyone was excited although that excitement was fast replaced by tears when it was time for Mummy to leave.

Fortunately the french system is for a very gentle adaptation period and so today Felix only stayed by himself for half an hour.

This afternoon when Felix woke up Mummy decided to do some retail therapy for Felix (or perhaps Mummy) and get his little 'Tablier' (which as I understand is like protective coat that they wear when they are drawing, painting or generally making a mess).

He was very excited and basically refused to take it off for the next hour.

Felix felt very special and after the initial excitement took himself very seriously in his Tablier...

Much though was being given to what he might create in the year to come...

Daddy's Day with Daddy M.

A special post from Daddy M...

Poor little kid, with parents like us he's going to be forced to celebrate 4 parent days. Two Australian ones and two French ones. That's 4 breakfasts in bed, as soon as he's old enough to go up to the boulangerie by himself, and as soon as Daddy teaches him how to froth the milk on the coffee machine.

The thing is since yesterday was one of the Australian Father's Day we didn't realise until a kindly soul texted us to remind us (pank yoo Daniel Bebin).

But we made up for it by having an impromptu outing to Meaux, little town in the heart of Brie country.
We picked up a marvellous Brie Fermier (homemade Brie, more delicious and more creamy than the ones you get in Paris, and definitely more tasty than the double cream King Island stuff).

Felix spent the day on Daddy's shoulders - bouncing up and down and pulling Daddy's hair.

But in perfect son style he gave his Daddy lots of wonderfully sloppy and looooong bisous.

And to Mummy's delight he manage to sneak a loooong cuddle with Mummy too.

Daddy is now looking into Iranian, Senegalese and Russian nationality - apparently they all celebrate their Father's Day on different days...

With love from Daddy M.

The Wedding.

Felix went to his first French wedding this weekend to celebrate the marriage of his Aunty Céline and Uncle Matthew (friends of Mummy & Daddy's).

The Château Saternay was a stunning location for the big day.

Felix had fun meeting the horses (Hello! Daddy looks like he is enjoying himself too!)...

... sitting in the carriage (most suitable for a little prince)

... enjoying the wedding procession through the fields to the local Mairie ...

... hanging out with the big boys ...

... watching the firework display with Daddy...

... and eating with the big kids (look closely you can just see Felix's head popping over the table) ...

Mummy and Daddy had a great time too!

Road Trip.

We're going on a road trip this weekend to a wedding outside of Paris in Villeneuve Saint Denis.

Felix is VERY excited about going in the 'Brooooommmmm' and has been helping Mummy and Daddy pack the overnight bag. Funnily enough, it is now overflowing with numerous toys, cars, books and other what nots.

(I think Daddy will need to quietly smuggle some things out of the bag).

Felix is also very chuffed to be wearing his lovely red RL 'horsey' shirt that Bon Papa gave him ... he keeps picking up the shirt saying "Bonpa, Bonpa...".

Stay tuned photos to follow upon our return!!

1st Birthdays far away.

Felix's little buddy Liam celebrated his birthday today and turned one year old. So Felix wanted to wish him a extra special Happy 1st Birthday !

But alas the party was in Centenial Park in beautiful sunny Sydney and so we couldn't quite make it. But everyone seemed to have a good time especially the birthday boy
(covered in chocolate) and Felix's little buddy Luka (on the left in green).

Liam's Mummy made a delicious cake too.

What a shame we missed the celebrations and also that fabulous cake!!

Nevertheless Felix, Daddy and Mummy wanted to be sure to send Liam a special birthday wish from Paris ...

Blue.

Felix has decided to move on from crayons and paint (for the moment anyway) and try out some coloured pencils instead. They are especially designed for little hands so they are easier to hold and extremely colourful.

Felix is just learning about colours and his favourite colour is blue so
he was prettythrilled to see two shades - light and dark.

Funnily enough he grabbed the pink pencil when it was time for the Mummy shot. Although he did insist on telling Mummy that it was blue too.

Mmmm ... maybe we still have some work to do on the colour learning.

Photographer Felix.

Having seen Mummy take many, many photos, Felix has decided that he wants to take some too and insisted on having a little photographic shoot the other day.

He lined the shots up, focused them (thanks to the auto function) and with some help from Mummy pressed the button. These were the results...

Mummy was fairly impressed with the subjects, the composition...

...and even a touch of Australiania (by way of a koala) thrown in beside Pablo Picasso and Dog.

Leonardo & Giraffee.

So it seems that not only is Felix quite fond of Leonardo, but he is also very fond of his Giraffee (thanks Aunty Kim & Uncle Barrie)...

And now it seems that Leonardo the lion is also quite fond of Giraffee too and they had a rather splendid 'bisous' moment today.

They make a rather cute trio...

...
and funnily enough Felix's 'Lion and Giraffe' t-shirt was perfect for the occassion!!
