First Day of Maternelle!

Today was Felix's first day of Maternelle (pre-school).

He was terribly excited to get his bag packed, get dressed and get ready to go off to school.

What a big boy
(as he keeps telling Mummy & Daddy)!

We took him up to the classroom with all the other kids & parents ...

And he started playing with puzzles at the pint-sized tables.

He seemed to take it all in his stride.

No tears today for Felix ... although a few little people started up after we left (including Mummy).

So fingers crossed the transition into school (with the huge Giant sculpture on the side) goes really well for our little man!

Oh and unlike what the photo depicts it was pouring with rain this morning, but luckily Mummy took a photo of the school on a nice sunny afternoon.

Phew!

What a difference a generation makes ! Bon Papa remembers Daddy's first day at the "maternelle" rue d'Assas... (1978)
He needed to repair to the nearest bar, rue Vavin, to order a solid "stiffner"...

I never knew that was the maternelle - I think the giant above the door is just wonderful. What a great place to go to school!

And it just so happens that at school they study a book called "The Smartest Giant in Town" which happens to be Felix's favourite book!

What luck hey?

Oh and Day 3 and he is still loving it. He just skipped out the door with Daddy to go off to school!

(Mummy is now having a cup of tea)
