Little soldiers & egg.

Daddy was on dinner duty tonight and thought it was about time Felix had some little soldiers with soft gooey egg. Felix was pretty pleased when he realised it was a hands on dinner and promptly started dipping his soldiers into his egg.

Unlike most other little people Felix hasn't had a huge amount of eggs in his time as he had baby eczema and had to avoid them to prevent any allergies from developing.

But it seemed he made up for lost time and really enjoyed the little soldiers and the gooey mess they made. Perhaps Daddy (and the soldiers) will have to be on dinner duty more often!!

Felix's Mail.

Felix is such a big boy now, he gets his own post. And unlike Mummy & Daddy's mail (which is mainly bills) it is actually very interesting and sometimes even exciting. Today we arrived home to f
ind a letter from Mooloolah Valley for Felix with a very special wombat stamp.

Felix could hardly contain his excitement and promptly ripped open the envelope to discover a great card all about koalas from Nanny and Pappie.

Mummy read the card to Felix, whilst he settled into his afternoon gâteau...

Mummy also learnt this week that it is estimated that there are only 2,000 to 8,000 koalas left in the wild and that their numbers had decreased by 90% in the last ten years (in Australia of course!).

We may just have to include Australia Zoo on the trip to Queensland next March to see some real koalas and also to go searching for them in the forest near Nanny and Pappie's house.

And with feet like this ... Felix can certainly do a lot of walking now!!

Balloon gone.

This afternoon Mummy & Felix went to buy Felix a toasty warm coat and at the children's shop Felix was given a bright blue inflated balloon to match his new coat.

Felix proudly carried the balloon all the way home and was happy as Larry. Only thing was as soon as we arrived home and went through the door ... the balloon popped!

Initially Felix's first reaction was to say 'Gone. Au revoir' which Mummy thought was very sweet but then he raced back to the door to look for the balloon. No balloon to be found anywhere...

But then Felix regained his smile ... and started playing in the garden with his new and very special magic wand.

How quickly they can be distracted at this age - thankfully.

Daddy's back.

Daddy has been travelling quite a bit recently and this week he was in Copenhagen for a few days
(funnily enough coinciding with Aunty Kim & Uncle Barrie's trip there). But Felix seemed a bit 'cranky' that Daddy was away and seemed to be ever patiently waiting for his arrival back home ... which of course he did Thursday evening.

And that's when the fun and games really began - starting with a special Felix & Daddy wrestle. And let me tell you, the little Felix is pretty strong for his 13 kilos.

But then again Daddy is pretty strong too ... although he had a bit of an advantage as he is a
little over the 13 kilo mark! It was very funny as in this photo Felix was just letting out a little "Mum-mee" ... with the tone of "Help Mummy!".

After the evening wrestle finished, Felix wasted no time in 'working out' for the next round (or was he having a rest?).

A night in with Bon Papa.

It was Bon Papa's last night in Paris on Tuesday night and so he came over for dinner chez nous. Felix was pretty chuffed to have Bon Papa at his house and seconds earlier had taken the opportunity of pulling his little chair right up beside Bon Papa ... not a bad effort for a little man.

When we were in Vence in summer Felix was thrilled to go in Bon Papa's car and even when we initially told him Bon Papa was coming to Paris he asked about the "brrooooommmmm". Dear little pet!

He looks pretty much in awe of his Bon Papa in this last photo me thinks.

Home days.

It's getting less and less enticing to trek off to the park now that the weather is somewhat greyer than the past few months. So some afternoons we have 'home days' and have fun playing outside chez nous.

First thing is to take out the wheeley bug, tricycle and truck. Not sure why, but Felix likes to have them all on hand so he can swap when he so desires and of course to give Leonardo and Bear a turn too.

It's much more fun to play when you have some friends ... and Leonardo and Bear are very accomodating and happy to have some afternoon activities.

And besides Mummy doesn't quite fit on the Wheeley Bug so best leave that up to the little-uns me thinks.

Bon Papa arrives.

Bon Papa came to Paris to visit us for a few days and most especially to see young Felix. Felix was very excited about seeing Bon Papa and was very pleased to have dinner with him on Sunday night. Felix seemed to enjoy his figs and parma ham and some goats cheese salad. Quite decadent for a little gourmand.

I wonder where he gets that from. Mmmm....

The carousel (again).

B
irthday season is well and truly upon us as yesterday was Olivia's 2nd birthday. So to celebrate we went to the carousel for a treat after playing in the park. Because it was a special day Felix was very lucky and FOUR turns. First of all he chose the purple truck which was great fun. What could beat a purple truck?

This was way too much fun Mummy so Felix had to have a go on the very stylish old fashioned car...

And of course no carousel would be complete without a ride on the horse...

Luckily after the horse ride Felix was starting to get rather tired after the afternoon activities so Mummy managed to get him away from the carousel.

Now just how is Mummy going to avoid them in the future?? Any ideas?

Climbing & laughter.

This afternoon, after having finished some shopping in the 6th, Felix and Mummy went to the little park just out the front of Bon Marché, with several fantastic playgrounds. Of course Felix discovered the biggest slide and zipped down on his tummy.

There are lots of things to do in the playground and lots of things to climb. And climb Felix did
(as did Mummy's heartbeat). Felix climbed up ...

And he climbed down ...

And then Ben and his Mummy joined us. Felix had an injection of energy and Felix and Ben were best of buddies, running here there and everywhere. They had a great afternoon with lots of laughter and fun.

By the end of the afternoon Felix was exhausted and fell asleep on the bus! Lucky little man.

Bedtimes Routines.

Everyone talks about how important bedtime routines are for toddlers and Felix is certainly LOVING his little bedtime routine. After the bath it is time for him to 'park' his truck, tricycle and wheeley bug
(also to get him used to putting his toys away before bedtime).

He can't stand it if Mummy or Daddy try and park the truck and insists that Felix does it (suits us just fine too). He is quite meticulous about how he parks them too.

Although in the last week it seems he is also now quite keen on shutting all the doors too. And I mean ALL THE DOORS in the apartment!

The bedroom door...

The lounge room door...

The hall door...

Then and only then, when all the days work is over can we can we start the stories and tuck the little and into bed.

Nighty night Felix!

Boys, overalls & their cars.

Felix is certainly asserting his will at the moment and it seems the only thing he will wear are his overalls from Bon Papa.

All other pants are strictly 'off limits' (as Daddy found out last night at bathtime when Felix burst into tears, followed by a hysterical tantrum when he had to put his pajama pants on). We are bracing ourselves as the terrible twos seem to be lingering in the road ahead. Sigh.

But in the meantime to avoid the battles Felix simply wears the overalls most days. This afternoon Felix decided he simply didn't want to go to the park and instead wanted to play cars (& trucks) chez nous.

Of course there were the normal sounds effects when Felix plays with his cars...."broooooommmmmm, broooooommmmmm...

...broooooommmmmm, broooooommmmmm...

Brooooooommmmm". Even the firetruck was making noises ...

Luckily Mummy was a fan of playing cars when she was a little girl too, so after she put down the camera she got in on the action too.
